I asked Faythe Levine to tell me about The Temporary Mural Project, one of the many projects she's been hard at work on this summer:
"We call it the Temporary Mural Project and It's located on the street outside Sky High in Milwaukee, WI in our neighborhood called Bay View. Sky High (est. 1988) is a skate board shop owned by Aaron Polansky. In June the two of us teamed up and expanded the space by adding a gallery in the back. Sky High gallery will host art shows, film screenings and pop-up shops. Aaron and I share a common vision and want to make Milwaukee a better place. We had this idea to invite local artists to create a 8'x8' mural that they could work on in their studios that would then be installed outside the shop, on the street for a few months at a time. The Temporary Mural Project gives local artists street exposure, promoting a positive message for the shop and our community. Alyssa Schulte (aka neon danger) was our first featured artist and her mural will be up through the end of August. She posted about the process on her blog. Upcoming artists include Kimberly Weiss, Colin Mathis and Vanessa Devaki Andrew. To keep up with the happenings at the gallery follow my blog."
Look at the sign they uncovered when installing the space for the mural!
